2 Naranjal Street
Orange Walk Town
Open Wednesday to Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (11:00 pm on Sundays)
The name is synonymous with music and energy, but Maracas has a formal side to its services. A quiet, indoor, air-conditioned dining room is available where servers in uniform stand ready.
If you want to feel the energy, sit outside on one of the riverside decks where the music is typically salsa, bolero or lounge music. The view of the river is relaxing. This place is located on the grounds of “El Gran Mestizo Resort” and is the departure point for tours to Lamanai by river. On your return from Lamanai, stay a bit and enjoy a cold one after the tour.
From fine dinner meals to authentic Maya Mestizo cuisine, Maracas delivers: Shrimp Quesadillas Pork Salpicon
Pollo a la Plancha Shrimp,
Lemony Parmesan Chicken
Conch or Lobster Ceviche
Wings…buffalo, garlic parmesan
Tostones de la Milpa
Fish and Chips
Maracas Bar and Grill is located on the river. A taxi cab typically costs US $2.50 for the 6 minute drive.
If you call the resort they can arrange complimentary transportation for groups of 4 or more. A shuttle normally departs downtown Orange Walk at 7:30 pm and returns to your hotel 9:30 pm. The shuttle must be booked in advance.
