Imagine open air, riverside seating, cold drinks and an 8 minute drive that takes you away from the bustle of Orange Walk Town…Maracas Bar and Grill offers cuisine from Northern Belize, where the culture is predominantly Mestizo and Maya. In addition to the main dining area and bar, there are 2 palapa decks on the river edge.
Appetizers include Tostadas de Pollo or Pibil (fried whole corn tortillas piled high with pork Pibil, salsa de tomate, Nestle cream, cheddar cheese, Cilantro, shredded lettuce, and sides of fresh beans and Pico de Gallo). Other favourites include Mayan Empanadas (Chaya) and Tacos Dorados (fried tacos). Of course, our menu would not be complete without the national food of Belize: Rice and Beans, potato salad, fried plantains and either stewed chicken or grilled fish.
The dinner menu is small compared to other restaurants, but big on flavor. Orange Walk is home to 2 of Belize’s rum distilleries, and true to this heritage, Maracas offers the best Rum Fish in the region. We source only Grouper or Snapper fillet and marinate it briefly in rum and butter, then sear it in a rum glaze made with Caribbean Gold Rum, butter, sugar, all spice and garlic.
The dinner menu also offers an eclectic choice of international diches such as Chicken or Fish Picatta, Creamy Garlic Fish and Pan Seared Lemon Butter Chicken.
At Maracas everything is made fresh and we just love to cook! Join us for lunch or dinner, or a drink by the river.
Open Thursday to Sunday for lunch and dinner
